How are tropical flowers packaged? TOP
Our Hawaiian flowers are freshly harvested, washed, and inspected for "hitchikers." They are cushioned with moist, shredded newspaper to preserve the vitality of your bouquet throughout the shipping process. During periods of frost these boxes are insulated at no additional charge. The box has external handling instructions to alert the courier of the urgent and special care needed for the package.
All gift boxes are shipped via 2 day FedEx Monday - Wednesday, meaning your package will arrive Wednesday - Friday.

We ship our coffee via USPS or 2 day FedEx. Hawaiian flower gift boxes are always shipped through 2 day FedEx. Why don't you offer Kona coffee? TOP
It's simple: we do not currently offer any Kona coffee because we have not found any which meets our standards. If you know of any, let us know!
Since the coffee berry boarer (CBB) has ravaged Kona coffee farms, farmers have been forced to make a decision:
1. Maintain high quality standards by sorting out defective, CBB damaged coffee beans. In this case there is less supply of high quality coffee, and all coffee demands much more work, as it requires sorting between flavorful and hollow (damaged) coffee beans. Hence, good Kona coffee is quite expensive.
2. Use everything, blend damaged crop.
Kona coffee can be excellent, floral & juicey. A great afternoon coffee. We hope they can surmount CBB quickly! Until then, there are many other beautiful coffees from around the Big Island to relax and enjoy. What is the relationship between Makana Gardens and Big Island Coffee Roasters? TOP

We recommend drinking Hawaiian coffee in a french press, chemex, pour over, aeropress, or as an espresso. Of course, drink it how you like it, but if you don't like how it is turning out then try something new!
We commonly drink coffee using two methods: a Chemex pot with a stainless steel Coava filter or aeropress.
In our tastings, we have noticed that the strong flavor & aroma of plastic from a standard coffee pot can hide the notes of "apricot, mineral, malt," etc. which we find in coffees. Similarly, we have found that paper filters can bring a drying, papery taste to coffees.
Sugar and cream in the coffee? Some coffees pair wonderfully with dairy, but we recommend tasting the coffee before adding cream or sugar. This way, you can clearly assess the quantity required. If the coffee is already sweet, why add sugar? We are confident that you won't need much - if any - of neither cream nor sugar when ordering coffee from Big Island Coffee Roasters.
There are hundreds of ways making the perfect coffee. Keep experimenting, and let us know which methods you prefer. |
